I was impressed to hear Jeb Bush recommend support for national parks and other federal lands during his visit to Reno on Oct. 21. He also recommended a permanent reauthorization of the Land and Water Conservation Fund, which Congress failed to renew this month for the first time in 50 years.

The Land and Water Conservation Fund, which directs a portion of offshore oil drilling revenues to protect public lands across the country, has helped protect numerous places across Nevada, from Soldier Meadows north of the Black Rock Desert, to Stillwater National Wildlife Refuge near Fallon, to Lake Mead by Las Vegas.
