Without a doubt, the most positive piece of legislation to come out of the 2011 Nevada Legislature was AB 307. Sponsored by Assemblyman David Bobzien, the bill was the top priority of the conservation community and will allow for responsible development of energy projects in Nevada. The Nevada Wilderness Project (NWP) was the key partner in developing the legislation. NWP and NCLEF worked with a wide variety of stakeholders, including energy companies, state agencies and the governor’s office in order to craft a bill that worked for all parties. The end result shows that positive things can be accomplished when all sides work together. Thanks to Assemblyman Bobzien for spearheading the effort and Governor Sandoval for working proactively to make this bill become law!
